Must have at least 5-10 years experience in X11, X-Widget, XAPI,

Xlib, unix pipe and processes, interprocess communication, GNU

Programming environment, MySQL and principles of database normalization for transactional and relational databases, 3D and hyperbolic visualisation tools and graphic algorithms.

Please detail your project experience to be considered.

1. build and debugging of a variety of OpenSource or

source-available software Includes, debugging, configuring and

installing. Packages include visualization tools (for eg.

graphviz, walrus), network harvesting tools (eg. wget, curl),

word extraction, information retrieval, indexing tools (eg.

harvest, glimpse, lemur, terrier, xapian, zettair) etc.

2. designing and coding a X11 graphical interface to bash --

which will allow (1) shell pipelines to be depicted iconically

and (2) support (subset of) html output from stdout of programs,

for eg.

3. preparing and packaging as a LiveCD with ext2/3, FAT32 and

NTFS support.

4. downloading and processing from the web a harvest of

approximately 1 million documents. These documents are all

publically available, but behind web-forms. The documents will

have to be downloaded and its meta-info indexed via scripting

tools using above LiveCD as a beta-test. The documents must be

converted from pdf to xml, indexed and categorized for

information retrieval using the above LiveCD.
