p { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; }Is there anyhope to learn English while listening to the songs?
Do you knowhow I used to entertain myself when teenager, not yet having the
Internet, and thus the opportunity to find the lyrics of foreign
singers' music? I turned on the Scorpions band on my tape recorder
(got really hooked on them in high school), took a pen and a notebook
and, listening carefully, wrote down every word that I heard. This
way I learned their art, and the language as well.
After awhile I was greatly surprised to find out it was a german band, not
american. Germans are characterized with very clear pronunciation of
english words, so my music choice was successful.
So, howexactly did I do this?
1) As it wasmentioned above, I would turn on, listen and write down. Later these
skills were of great help at lectures in the college and the
university.
2) WheneverI missed something, I would replay it. The songs were listened over
and over again.
3) Irecollected the text, or rather the phrases it was contained of. Then
I was appropriate in using them in my everyday speech.
4) Keptsinging again and again.
There's onlyone disadvantage about this method – it's not enough of it. It must
be acompanied by regular lessons: independently or with a tutor.
About selfeducation I've already told you, and the tutor will show
you and tell you everything.
Good luck! What if listening to your favourite tunes will stimulate you to new
language achievements – who knows?
p.s. Andwhen a few years ago "Scorps" were visiting Lviv with a
concert, all their songs I was singing together with them, because
I've long known all the lyrics by heart. Isn't it the reason to start
learning English?
