0. Overview

This system is used to manage users who purchase our software products. We are going to sell a set of software products that can run online.
A user can use a copy of software only if
1. the user has paid for that copy of software
2. the software runs on the domain that the user registered. One user can purchase and run several different software.
This system will manage the user profile, accept payment via paypal, and validate the online software.
1. Function

1.1 User profile management

Information in account profile:
* Account Number (user read only)
* UserID (user set)
* Password (user set)
* Contact (email, phone)
* State/province and postal/Zip Code of the business activity center
* List of software products being purchased
* Payment Status for each software product (one user can purchase multiple product)
Paid/Trial
* Domain Name for each software product (user input, one user can purchase multiple product)
* Payment Date for each software product (one user can purchase multiple product)
Account user can:
* Create account
* Change user name/password, reset password via email
* change domain name
* update contact info
1.2 Software Validation

Process validation request message from the software product
Validate software based on user profile
send valid/invalid response
log (link to individual account)
1.3 Purchase and Payment

* accept payment via paypal
* update account payment status based on payment

2. Scale

Average usage:
100 new accounts per month
20,000 total accounts
Peak usage:
300 new accounts per month,
User Account and Paypal Payment Management
50,000 total accounts to manage
3. System and Software Requirement
Server: Linux, Apache, PHP5, MySQL
Web Front: Ideally Flash, normal HTML is ok. The style must match our main website.
Web Front code must be separated from the paypal handling and DB handling code.

For Clarification:
The software products we sell are flash website templates. With this user management system, we want to make sure that one purchased copy can only run from one domain.
User must have an account before make the payment. We have a manual process to put the account number into the purchased flash template. When the flash template is viewed from a server, it will report back the account number and domain name to our server (and some other info). We need the management system to validate the info and tell the flash if it's valid or not.
Please adjust your bidding price if this info changes your tech plan.
Questions for you:
1. One user (account) may purchase multiple products. Do you have a plan to handle such scenario?
2. Do you plan to use flash as the front end? (this is preferred, but static html is OK)
3. Do you plan to use Paypal standard or paypal pro? (paypal pro is preferred since users don't have to leave our site, but paypal standard is OK)
4. We need to take coupons, such as $100 off. Coupon is specific to product we sell. Can you include that in the system? (I assume this is a light effort).
5. Are you sure about the delivery date? I HATE delay. Please update the date if needed.
6. Have you checked our payment policy?
